How to speed up OneNote?

Hi,

I use OneNote for taking lecture notes in University. I use a power tool
application to import PowerPoint slides and then make notes beside each
slide. The problem with this is that since the section gets so large
because of all the PowerPoint slides it loads very slowly.

Even scrolling down on a single page it's very slow, like OneNote
doesn't think to cache the whole page into RAM but instead reads it as I
see it on the screen.

Is there any way to force OneNote to use more RAM or load pages into
some sort of cache when I load them up? I have a ton of RAM on my laptop
but it isn't being used by OneNote and instead I'm getting this
aggrivating lag.

If you are running XP on your notebook you should have at least 256meg of
memory, but if your running office (inc onenote) and you want speed, you will
need 512 to 1gig of memory. XP responds BEST to 1gig of memory. In my own
experience when I went from 512 to 1gig I noticed a 50% speed increase in all
apps, the only issue was it took a bit longer to load the OS, cause it is
memory hungry. I got around this issue by partitiioning my drive and placing
the cache on the second partition in a manual form....in other words I picked
the amount of memory to use, currently 768 min up to 2048 max. This made a
huge difference in how fast the system booted. Its all in the configs my
friend.

This actually has nothing to do (well, less to do) with how much RAM you
have installed. OneNote doesn't seem to cache images into memory until you
scroll to them. I would suggest using the OneNote printer powertoy to import
your slides, because if you use 96 dpi as your selection, the images are
very small and thus load very fast. The dpi goes all the way up to 300,
though you get slightly more lag.
