"OneNote Table Of Contents.onetoc2" conflicts with FolderShare

Hi Guys

A hidden file “OneNote Table Of Contents.onetoc2” has populated itself
throughout my PC causing FolderShare to object.

FolderShare records that the file name is too long (which from my experience
means it doesn’t like repeated file names and not that the file name or path
is too long).

I have found a registry fix from Microsoft (I don’t play with the registry
because I am scared) and another post that say the hidden file will return.

Question: How can it turn off whatever put the hidden file “OneNote Table
Of Contents.onetoc2” onto my computer, please.

Kind regards
Mike

OneNote will put the file in any folder or subfolder that is opened as a
notebook. It is required for proper multi-user syncing and merging, but
they're safe to delete from any folder that is not opened as a notebook
in OneNote. You can also delete them from within notebooks, but then
OneNote will put them back the next time it syncs.

Hi Ilya

Thanks for that, I have now delete them all (454) and no harm seems to have
occurred.

To prevent this happening again, I shall not open OneNote from a folder. I
do not knowingly use "multi-user syncing and merging"; any ideas how I can
turn that off.

If these files return it is going to be a nuisance.

Kind regards
Mike
