Discussion:
Onenote 2007 printer not found
(too old to reply)

Hi
I have been using onenote 2007 printer function for a while. Suddenly the
onenote printer is not found anymore for some reason.
I did the following with no help

-I reinstalled the "send to onenote" add-in for MS office
-I ran MS office diagnostics tool

Do you have other suggestions?
i.e add the printer manually?

Julian,

try doing a "repair" from the add/remove programs. If that doesn't
work, try doing a reinstallation (uninstall/install). There is no "send
to onenote" addin for 2007--that was for 2003.

make certain you have the original product keys that MS emailed you if
this is a trial...if you don't, you will be unhappy if you try to
reinstall and OneNote doesn't work.

I'd suggest to remove that add-in right away, because that is for 2003.
After that, remove 2007 and reinstall it.

I uninstalled onenote 2007 and reinstalled it that did not help.
I could do the same for the whole office package but the onenote printer is
specific for just onenote so why should it help?

Do you have other suggestions?
It should work out to add the printer function manually just like adding a
hardware printer?

Did you uninstall, reboot and then reinstall? If you didn't reboot, then
your chances of it working are slim.
Unfortunately there is no way to just add the printer...

Hi

I did uninstall the whole Office suite reboot and reinstalled and that did
not help.
I am suspecting that maybe my anti virus program is causing the trouble.
I am running Kaspersky Internet security 6.0.2

By the way usually onenote used to startup at windows startup. I am running
windows XP and I tried to find the option to enable that.
I looked under preferences....I did not see such a option (Swedish version)
I run "msconfig" -> startup
No notenote startup option there too?

Then I'd disable your AV suite while you remove and reinstall.
Copy the OneNote icon into your AutoStart group (Start, All Programs)
and it should open again.

hello,

Are you running Windows Vista business or Home premium?

I am having the same problem after I changed machines. I got really
fond of the send to one note (printer) feature.

Not entirely true. If it was on your machine and then disappeared, the
drivers are still there and you can just add the printer.

This has happened at the office on several computers. After
uninstalling and re-installing the entire office suite several different
times (which DOES NOT always work - by the way) I figured out how to
install the printer directly.

Add Printer - Local - Do not detect.
Use the following port: Send to Microsoft OneNote port.
Select a printer. I use Fujistsu Breeze 100. It shouldn't make a
difference which printer you use. That just happened to be the one I
chose the first time I did it and so I have used it ever since.

Printer Name: Print to OneNote, of course.

Do not share, do not print a test page.

Finish.

Get properties on the printer and under Advanced click the drop down
and select the Send to Microsoft OneNote driver.

Also Under Advanced select Print Processor and choose the
OneNotePrint2007 and leave as RAW.

Under Ports make sure it's set to the "Send to OneNote" port

Close all property windows and "voila!" you have a new Print to OneNote
Printer.

God Bless you Kelvin! It worked. I've been nuts trying to find it again and
in seconds you explained how to do it and it worked. I am faint with relief.
Thanks.

Hey guys I have been having the same problem with the file not found
error message when I try to print to onenote. I tried to manually
install the printer but for some reason the OneNote2007 print processor
is not available in the list of my print processors so I can't change it
to RAW. I use the "send to onenote" function quite often so if anyone
has any suggestions I would be very appreciative.
