Discussion:
How do I anchor handwriting to text in onenote?

I used the "Send to Onenote" add-in for IE and sent a list of names to
onenote. I've added handwritten notes to some of the names. However, can't
delete the names I no longer need as the text below moves up but the
handwritting does not, meaning that the comments are no longer with the right
names. I've tried standard shift/select w/o success. Anyone have an idea on
"connecting" the two so they stay together.

AFAIK you can't do this. Ink is anchored to a specific place on the
page and cannot be moved. Sometimes you can select the ink and move it
by hand but I have never figured out how to do this reliably. There is
nothing corresponding to the 'lasso' in Journal. If you think this
stinks, welcome to the club. This is one of my main beefs with the
program. I have submitted a suggestion to MSoft but no response
whatsoever.

They don't have time to respond to every suggestion individually. What was
your specific suggestion? You want a lasso in OneNote or you want to anchor
the Ink to a specific text group?

Hi,

I don't know about the OP, but a lasso tool in OneNote would be a boon IMO.

Cheers,

A boon it is. Per Chris Pratley's blog there is a Lasso tool in the next
version. :-)

The lasso will be helpful. Will it capture text and handwritting together?

Wouldn't it make sense that INK that is done over top of an Image
should be anchored to the image *by default* ? Isn't that why you are
inking on the image ? What scenarios would the reverse be true ? (ie.
when would you ink directly on the image and say .. want to move it
elsewhere ?)

Good point, it is a major frustration , probably more important for tablet
users.
What is needed is the possibility to "freeze" a page then keep adding ink
and "freezing" again so the ink would always remain with the image.
A "group selected item" function would work too.
