I am wondering if Microsoft or another reputable software company provides
the add ins for Italian proofing, grammar, spelling check and editing for
Office XP. I get other languages, like French, Spanish, and German, but no
Italian. I just need the tools as provided for the other languages.

The Office XP Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack is available natively
in certain editions of Office XP. You should see the information here:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/multilingual/muipackfaq.asp
Depending on whether you're on a Tablet PC or not, you may be able to use
language packs from www.abletfactory.com .

Besides the MUI pack that Chris mentions, and is only available to companies
with specific licenses, you can purches the Office XP PROOFING TOOLS CD with
all 30+ supported languages. This doesn't change the language of the
interface you work in (menus, Help, etc.) but it will give you the capability
to perform spell- and grammar check, plus a thesaurus, for most langauges. If
you're a North American resident you can buy this from the online store at
microsoft.com. For other regions you purchase it retail from a store that
deals in Microsoft Office products.
