set default notebook in onenote

Using OneNote 2007, I found that by removing the default notebooks that come
with OneNote, I end up with OneNote starting with no open notebooks.

I would like to have it start with my own notebook (I'm just getting
started, but I prefer tons of personalization ... it's the way my brain
works).

I cannot find any means of setting a default notebook that is what appears
when OneNote starts.

(If this is not possible, can I at least restore the 'default' notebooks, so
that when OneNote starts up, it does not do so with a completely empty
screen? I can tinker with the default notebooks, if needed and use those ...)

OneNote should start the way you left it.

If you close it with no notebooks open, that's how it will open.

If you close it with 10 notebooks open, that's how it will open - with the
section and page that were visible when you last closed it.

Additionally, each section tab that you click on will display the page that
you were last working on.

Well, "should" is all well and good. That's not what is happening. When I
open OneNote nothing is open, even when I close it with an open notebook.

Definitely odd. However, it may be because I had closed the open notebooks,
but somehow did not create a new notebook, but just a page? There are some
odd things about this program.

I told it to save a create a new notebook, then save it, and that SEEMS to
have solved things. Now when I open it, it's with the new notebook only.
That's what I really needed. I have some sharing issues, but that's a
different topic, and if I need to (I haven't done a lot to work it out, and
it's between the Vista computer and the XP computer, and I'm sure some of
these issues are related to the different OSes).

Thanks for the assist. I think this has the potential to be a useful tool,
but I'm struggling to get it working. Not having a manual of some sort
doesn't help. (And Microsoft doesn't seem to believe in shipping manuals with
the software anymore ...)

That's true of most software manufacturers these days: Adobe, Microsoft and
others.

Online help, 3rd party training providers, support forums and blogs seem to
have superseded manuals.
